This Sunday, June 14, in the beginning of the church service from Grove Lake Lutheran Church will be using this service as a memorial for Ginny Davenport as there will be no formal funeral or memorial service for her at another time. As such, I will give an opportunity for reflection on who Ginny was and how she touched our lives. There will also be some special music by Susan and Dan, and the sermon, while proclaiming Christ, will also so in the context of Ginny’s life. Unfortunately it looks like we ill not be able to set up outside as the wind forecast for Sunday does not look good. Box 327, Pelican Rapids, MN 56572 Virginia “Ginny” (Olson) Davenport, age 67, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. Virginia Ann was born July 13, 1952 in Moorhead, MN, to Lawrence “Larry” and Maxine (Short) Olson. She attended school in Pelican Rapids, graduating from Pelican Rapids High School. In 1987, Ginny and Randy Davenport met at the turkey plant and were married in September of 1990. Ginny worked at West Central Turkeys in Pelican Rapids from 1987 until she retired in 1997. Ginny loved to work in the garden in the summer months. She is survived by her husband Randy; three children: Shon (Pam) VanCleef and family, Wisconsin; Lee (Melody) VanCleef, Wahpeton, ND; Amy (Jana) Schachtshchneider, Fargo, ND; mother Maxine Olson; sisters: Karen (Greg) Mosey, Katherine (Jerry) Steiner, and Michelle Olson; brothers: Lawrence Olson Jr., Ronald (Jacqueline) Olson, and Bradley Olson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Lawrence, nephew David Steiner. A private family service will be held at a later date and time. Please keep the Davenport, VanCleef and Olson families in your thoughts and prayers.
