Shirley Jenson

Shirley Irene Jenson, 79, a resident of Pelican Rapids, MN, entered her heavenly home on April 9, 2022.

Shirley Irene Olson was born July 24, 1942, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Lester and Irene (Roach) Olson. Shirley grew up and graduated from Lake Park High School. She attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND.

On July 14, 1962, Shirley married John Jenson and they farmed for many years before retiring to Prairie Lake. She was employed as an activities director in nursing homes in Pelican Rapids and Detroit Lakes.

Shirley’s true passion was putting others before herself. She loved to visit and made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed flower gardening, Bible study, singing in the church choir, shopping, and reading. Cooking and baking were her specialty, especially her well-known lefse. She loved watching many grandchildren’s events throughout the years. Her faith was very important to her.

Shirley was very proud of her family, and she cherished and looked forward to any visits or gatherings. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; father & mother-in-law, John B & Edna Jenson; and a sister-in-law Ilene Olson.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband John; 4 children: Deb (Gary) Moorman, Alexandria, MN, Dawn (Mike) Grefsrud, Fairmount, ND, Brian (Sue) Jenson, Fargo, ND, and Brad (Janae) Jenson, Pelican Rapids, MN; 12 grandchildren: Ryan and Jason Moorman, Allison, Brady and Kallie Grefsrud, Kenzie (Jackson) Lindom, Taylee and Mayzie Jenson; Gavin and Jaden Pearsall, David and Jarrett Jenson; great-granddaughter Isla Pearsall. She is also survived by her brothers: Jim (Loretta) Olson, Jerry Olson (Renee Brantner), and sister Carol Olson; brother-in-law Ed (Loretta) Jenson; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Shirley was a special wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend and will be missed dearly.

Memorials preferred to Ringsaker Cemetery, Pelican Rapids.

Visitation will be Friday, April 15, 2022, at Grace Lutheran Church, Erhard, Minnesota, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Brad Soenksen officiating. Luncheon will follow the service. Burial will be at Ringsaker Cemetery in Pelican Rapids.
