Robert Lee Sandstrom

Robert Lee Sandstrom, 77, of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, April 4th, 2026 at Bethany Nursing Home on 42nd Street in Fargo, North Dakota.

Robert was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Roy and Virginia (Novota) Sandstrom on September 28, 1948. On June 14, 1968, he married the love of his life, Jennifer (Sandall). Together, they began their journey in the Chicagoland area, eventually moving their family to the lakes country of Pelican Rapids in 1990.

Rob worked in leadership and Engineering for food processing companies like Oscar Meyer, Swift Eckrich, and West Central Turkeys. He finished his career working as an accountant at Thiele Technologies in Fergus Falls, MN.

Rob’s life was defined by his willingness to step up when others were in need. Whether he was racing to a call as a volunteer fireman in his younger years, or serving as a Police Chaplain and Food Pantry Board Member in his later years. His quiet strength and spiritual guidance provided comfort to many in their darkest hours.

Rob and Jennifer shared a lifelong passion for dogs. In their earlier years, they were active in the AKC circuit, showing Dalmatians and Miniature Pinschers. After moving to Minnesota, their home and hearts expanded to include Labrador Retrievers, Pomeranians, and Pugs.

Rob was preceded in death by his wife Jennifer Sandstrom, older brother Roy Sandstrom and parents Roy and Virginia Sandstrom.

Rob is survived by his brother Ron (Joan) Sandstrom. His children Doug (Shelly) Sandstrom, Melissa Smith, and Joe (Emily) Sandstrom. He was a proud grandfather to Karlie and Kyle (Carlie) Cox; Viola, Madelyn, Emma, Noah, Penelope, Theodore, and Savanah Sandstrom; and a great-grandfather to Kristopher Cox.

Plans for a private ceremony and burial will be set at a later date.
