David Arnold Lysaker was born February 19, 1948 to Herschel and Esther Lysaker in Crookston, MN. He grew up there, spending his summers at the Lysaker cabin on Union Lake near Erskine. He graduated from Central High in 1966. He earned his BS in Vocational Sales and Marketing from UND and later completed his MD degree at Covenant Bible Seminary, Lakewood, WA.

David and Catherine McClosky married and two sons were born to this union and they resided in the Se-attle area. Following a divorce, he and his sons returned to Minnesota where he completed his degree and taught at the AVTI, During this time, he chose to follow Jesus and the trajectory of his life changed. He met Dawn Berger and her sons in Valley City, ND and they were married on July 4, 1985. A son and a daughter were born to this union.

David was a promoter, entrepreneur, ideas guy who loved to take an inspiration and grow it into some-thing tangible. He loved his plants, camping and canoeing in the Boundary waters, photography, cheering on the Bison football team with his friend Brad, pie and coffee fellowship, collecting vases, making feather bouquets and coffee. He never threw away a scrap of wood as he knew it could be used for some-thing. He could fix anything with duct tape. He enjoyed telling how he married Dawn three weeks after a blind date. Who was the matchmaker? God of course. He taught how to give your testimony in 3 minutes but he couldn’t do it himself. He would spend hours researching and preparing a sermon message. He and the family traveled and performed as the Faith Puppeteers and he pastored in several churches in Iowa, Montana and Minnesota. He hosted Gospel Tent Meetings for 20 years. He and his vent puppet, Andy, would bring a teaching lesson to children and adults alike. He would randomly call someone on the phone just to keep in touch. People and friendships were important to him….his Menu Masters advertis-ing clients became friends and he would often ask them if they needed prayer for anything. When asked the casual greeting ‘How are you?’ he would answer ‘Highly favored in the Lord’. And in his last days when he could still speak you could hear him whisper ‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus…’

David is survived by his wife, Dawn, his five sons: Paul, Matthew, (Dawn) Mike, Steve and Daniel (Kim) and his daughter, Sarah, his five grandchildren: Ariana, Addison, Matthew, Colton and Hadley, several nieces and nephews and extended family. And Andy who has lost his partner and his voice.

His parents and brothers preceded him in death.
