Paul Brian Bakken

Paul Bakken, age 65, of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota died on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

Paul was born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on September 23, 1957 to Erwin and Marian (Johnson) Bakken.  Paul graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. 

Paul was united in marriage to Tammy Dillon on June 23, 1979 in Pelican Rapids, MN.  They had a family dairy farm from 1976 to 2005, when Paul started his beef herd.  He started working for MnDOT in 2005 until retirement in 2023.

Paul enjoyed softball, touring to look for deer, cows, elk and deer hunting and most recently enjoyed spending time with his beautiful granddaughter Ava.  He was a lifetime member of Grove Lake Lutheran Church.  He was in Grove Lake 4-H and a board member of West Otter Tail County Fair.

Paul is survived by his wife, Tammy; his sons, Alin and Cris; granddaughter Ava; sister Karen Hart; brothers-in-law: Kevin (Vickie) Dillon, Gary (Kris) Dillon; sisters-in-law: Patti (Mike) Dillon, Diane Bakken, Phyllis Bakken; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Erwin and Marian (Johnson) Bakken; brothers: Roger, Steve, Rick; brother-in-law Gary Hart; in-laws Don and Marcy Dillon; sister-in-law Deb (Dale) Toso; daughter-in-law Alexandra Bakken.

Visitation: Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Grove Lake Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, MN.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Grove Lake Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids with Pastor Clay Ellingson officiating. If you would like to watch a livestream of Paul's Memorial Service, you are also invited to go to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Interment: South Grove Lake Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota
