Fergus Falls

Patricia Huseby, age 86, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the PioneerCare Center, Fergus Falls, MN.

Patricia Ann (Peterson) Huseby was born on July 12, 1939, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, to Nels Otto and Ethel (Matson) Peterson.

She grew up in Pelican Rapids, where she attended school and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. After graduation, Patricia lived in Minneapolis and worked at Lincoln Equipment in St. Paul, Minnesota.

In December of 1958, she married David Huseby and moved to Oceanside, California, where David was enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During their time in California, Patricia worked at the W.T. Grant Company in Oceanside.

Patricia and David later returned to Pelican Rapids, where they built their life together and raised their family. After her children reached school age, Patricia returned to work and dedicated 30 years to Pelican Rapids Elementary School, where her caring nature and gentle heart touched many lives over the years.

Patricia was deeply involved in both her church and community. She served as a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, taught Sunday school, was a Luther League advisor, and sang in the choir at both Central Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. She found joy in helping others, sharing her faith, and being involved in the lives of those around her.

In 1993, Patricia and David moved to Lake Lida, a place that became very special to her. She loved living at the lake and found happiness in life’s simple pleasures — spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending their many activities, working in her flower gardens, dancing, visiting with family and friends, and working part-time at Garden Pleasures. She especially treasured time spent together with the people she loved most.

Patricia will be remembered for her warm heart, quiet strength, strong faith, and deep love for her family. The kindness and care she shared so freely with others will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Patricia is survived by her children: daughter Terri (Dennis) Sorum; sons: Todd (Nancy) Huseby, Tony (Shelly) Huseby, and Troy Huseby; grandchildren: Nick (Sophia) Sorum, Andrew (Chrisandra) Sorum, Patrick (Kinzie) Sorum, Taylor (Sarah) Huseby, Michael Huseby, Ryan (Tori) Huseby, Alyssa Huseby, Shea Huseby, Carly Huseby, Quinn Huseby, and Kaia Huseby; great-grandchildren: Anika, Norah, and Oliver Sorum, Ryder, Asher, and Paxton Sorum, Everly and Emma Sorum, Xavier and Mateo Huseby, and Emmett Huseby; sisters: Carol ( Roger) Haugrud and Lyla (Monte) Berend; sisters-in-law Carol (Chuck) Rice and Shirley Ralston; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dave and her parents Otto and Ethel Peterson.
