Nancy Haglund

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Nancy Mae Haglund, 79, of Vergas, MN, closed her eyes to this world at home and was peacefully reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.

Nancy was born on August 24th, 1947 in Fergus Falls, MN to Tyler and Lorraine (Markle) Peterson. She was the oldest having 3 younger brothers. Nancy grew up in Fergus where she attended school, but her high school years were spent in Seattle, Washington with her grandparents and where she finished her education and graduated high school in Seattle. Nancy was an avid track athlete receiving many trophies and medals. She also enjoyed playing tennis and softball.

After graduating, she returned to Minnesota and was united in marriage to Loren Haglund on June 22, 1968 in Pelican Rapids. They were blessed with 2 daughters and 1 son.

Nancy was a hard worker, she was a CNA at nursing homes including Good Samaritan Center in Pelican for many years, and also worked at the Turkey Plant in Pelican and Walmart in Detroit Lakes.

Nancy enjoyed life, she loved to go camping, fishing, swimming, knitting/crocheting, birds, gardening, watching westerns and scary movies. She loved to read a good book and play cards, she looked forward to Sundays when the family would come over for dinner and play cards. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

Nancy was a kind, humble, fun, loving person with a great sense of humor, lots of laughter and joy to brighten any room she was in.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Tyler and Lorraine, step dad Alvern Kilde, brother James Peterson, and many other relatives and friends.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 58 years Loren, children: Michelle (Frank) Vana of Vergas, Cheryl Prince of Perham, and Brian Haglund of Vergas; 2 brothers: Steve Peterson of Bemidji, Dave Peterson of Barnesville; 1 granddaughter Courtney; 6 grandsons: Austin, James, Billy (Allison), Nickolas, Tomas, and Anthony; 7 great-granddaughters: Jocelynn, Hope, Lana, Oaklynn, Brianna, Emersyn, and Blakely; and other relatives and friends.

Nancy touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Larson Funeral and Cremation Service, Pelican Rapids, MN. Please join us for a light lunch and share happy memories of Nancy.
