Marjorie (Grahn) Hanson, age 86, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Pelican Valley Senior Living, Pelican Rapids, MN. Marjorie Faye was born the middle child of five on December 15, 1932 in Lida Township near Pelican Rapids, MN, to George and Emma (Bakke) Grahn. She was baptized and confirmed at Central Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MN. In Lida Township, she attended country school. In 1952, she graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. On October 29, 1954, Marjorie married Jarhl Hanson at Central Lutheran Church. When their 5 children became the proper age, Marjorie cleaned cabins at the Castaway Club on Pelican Lake. For almost 30 years she worked at West Central Turkey Plant in Pelican Rapids. Jarhl died on February 8, 1996. Marjorie was an active member of Grove Lake Lutheran Church, being involved with WELCA and the church circle. When she was a little girl, she started as a pen pal with cousin, Eleanor Johnson from 1942-2015, writing to her every week. Marjorie enjoyed cooking, baking, collecting recipes and feeding birds and hummingbirds. Thrift stores and rummage sales were a great adventure for her. She liked washing clothes and hung them on the clothes line. She enjoyed going to the Pelican Rapids Library. Marjorie is survived by five children: Jean E. (Robert) Varholdt, Hawley, MN; Ellen Ann (Bill) Kaneen, Kalispell, MT; Ronald (Lorie) Hanson, East Grand Forks, MN; Donald (Colette) Hanson, Pelican Rapids, MN; John (Linda) Hanson, Hungry Horse, MT; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren: Brad (Connie) Kaneen and their children Seth and Shelby; Jason Kaneen and his children MaKenzie and Erika; Brittany (Phil) Berg and their children Jocelyn, Weston, Braelyn and Aislyn; Megan Hanson and her children Taten Perkerewicz and Mila Hanson; Joey (Callie) Hanson and their children Kennedy and Kora; Rhonda (Lonny) Tallman and their child Cameron; Travis Herron and his children Leilani Herron and Kaileen Alvarez; Tiffany (Craig) Wheeler and their children Braxton, Amberly, and Silas; John Kaneen, and Courtney Hanson; sister Avis Fresonke; brother Lloyd (Nancy) Grahn; nephews and niece: Grant (Susan) Fresonke, Sheila Yanish and Shane (Kris) Grahn. She is preceded in death by her husband Jarhl, two grandchildren: Ryan Kaneen and Julie Kaneen, brother Bill Grahn, sister Delores (Gilman) Toso, brother-in-law Ervin Fresonke, niece Shari Fresonke. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Grove Lake Lutheran Church or Pelican Rapids Library. Visitation: Sunday, November 24, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 3:30 p.m.at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2019, at Grove Lake Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.
