The life of LaMae Elizabeth Norman, 92, of Dunvilla, MN drew to a close with her family at her side on July 7, 2026 at Heather’s Hospice House, Fargo, ND.
LaMae was born April 18, 1934 to Thilda and Oscar Lisell at Roseau, MN. She attended and graduated from Roseau High School in 1952. She raised her family in Stephen and Warren, MN; enjoyed a lake cabin in Baudette, MN and after retirement moved near Detroit Lakes, MN at Dunvilla.
She was united in marriage to Laverne Van Norman on March 8, 1952. Their marriage was an incredible union of 63 years filled with love and laughter. LaMae had the gift of hospitality and generosity and lived her faith in God by serving others. She was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake, Pelican Rapids, MN. Her Swedish pancakes ARE legendary. She was a quilter and gave thousands of quilts to people who needed a loving touch. LaMae was always up for a card game. She was beloved by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a cherished friend to many.
She is survived by four children: Gail Vesey, Detroit Lakes, MN, Leslie (Neil) Widner, Stephen, MN, John (Terri) Norman, St. Joseph, MN, Robert (Lyn) Norman, Detroit Lakes, MN, 14 grandchildren; Chad (Shawna) Vesey, Kim (Chad) Karpf, Joseph (Michelle) Vesey, Patrick (Marcie) Vesey, Allison (Jerad) Liedberg, Thomas (Robyn) Widner, James (Tabitha) Widner, Lisa (Richard) Lee, Pastor Stephen (Kasey) Widner, Zachary (Michaela) Schlieman, Abigail Villanueva, Adeline Norman, Jack (Talia) Norman, Anna (Makaio) Goods, 35 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
LaMae was preceded in death by her parents, husband Laverne, five siblings, son Jeffrey, son in law Dennis Vesey and four grandchildren.
The family will forward any memorials to either Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake, Pelican Rapids or HAI Heather’s House, Fargo, ND.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 1-2 pm with memorial service at 2 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MN. Interment will be at Zion Columbarium, across from the Church.
