Karen Tingelstad

Karen Tingelstad, 72, of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota died on March 11, 2023, at the Pelican Valley Senior Living surrounded by her loving family.

Karen Marie was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 16, 1951, to Francis and Elizabeth (Zweck) Paszek.  In 1968 Karen graduated from South Division High School in Milwaukee.   Karen moved to the Browerville/Long Prairie area in 1973. In 1989 Karen earned her nursing degree from Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Wadena and moved to Pelican Rapids where she worked for the Good Samaritan Center.

Karen was a proud 35+-year member of AA and a member of the grief support group in Pelican Rapids. She was an expert Cribbage player and passed her love of the game to her children and grandchildren teaching them to play at a very young age.  Karen was also an avid bowler and was on several leagues throughout her life.  In her later years she enjoyed gardening and has always had a special love for all pets in the family.

Karen’s number one passion was her family.  Knowing Karen meant you knew all the latest updates on her kids and Grandchildren.  She was always in attendance to her Granddaughters activities and was their biggest fan.

She is survived by her loving daughter and son Paula (Chuck) Waller, Pelican Rapids, MN and Robert (Joan) Casperson, Long Prairie, MN; 4 grandchildren: Kellie Casperson, Sara Casperson, Samantha (Trevor) Meyeraan, and Madison Waller, 3 great-granddaughters; brother James “Butch” (Barbara) Paszek, one niece and 2 nephews.   

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Gary (Diana) Paszek.

Memorials can be choice of the donor.

Visitation: Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN. 

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.

Clergy:  Allen Westby, S.A.M.

Interment in the Spring: Bagstevold Cemetery, Erhard, Minnesota
