June Louise Swan, age 97, died peacefully on September 29, 2018 while at Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids, Mn. She leaves a legacy of love and wisdom for her family and friends. June Louise was born on June 23, 1921 to John and Dagny (Thyse) Utne in Fergus Falls, Mn. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School with the class of 1939, then went on to Concordia College for one year, and subsequently earned her teaching certificate from Miss Woods Institute in Minneapolis in 1941. She taught briefly in Underwood, Mn and several years later in Pelican Rapids, Mn. June was united in marriage to Lloyd C. Swan on December 26, 1942. They were married 66 years when Lloyd died in 2008. They raised three children; Pamela June, Carol Joy, and Paul William Swan. In 1947 June and Lloyd left Minneapolis and moved to Pelican Rapids in order to start a drugstore. They devoted many years to building a business as the family grew. June was involved in civic organizations, school activities and church. She enjoyed years of fellowship with friends in women's and couple’s Bible studies. She was a prayer warrior, a master knitter, a great cook, and an avid reader.  Her greatest joy was to know her children were walking with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Swan. She is survived by children Pam and Glenn Nord in Lakeville, Mn., Carol and Dave Tomljanovich in Knoxville, Tn., Paul and Jan Swan in Austin, Mn., eight grandchildren: Andrea Liechty, Catherine Welch, Amy Tiebout, Jenny Ortner, Wendi Sobotta, David Swan, Peter Swan, Natalie June McGranahan; fourteen great-grandchildren: Wil, Maggie June Marie, Haley, Caroline, Jack, Madi, Peter, Dane, Jacob, Kyler, Whitney, Lucy, Laurana, Gretchen; sister Joyce Beck in Maple Grove, Mn, brother Richard Utne and wife Bernice in LaJolla, Ca, and extended family of nephews and nieces. June Swan was a woman of Faith in Jesus Christ, loving wife, devoted mother who used her gifts to serve. Today she beholds the Glory of God!
