Gene Hendrickson

Gene C. Hendrickson, age 92, died on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at his home in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley with his loving family by his side. Gene was born December 13th, 1929, in Wolverton, Minnesota to Melvin and Evalyn (Peterson) Hendrickson. He enlisted in the Navy in August of 1948 and was discharged in January 1950. He served on the USS Bordelon. On September 22nd, 1950, he was United in marriage to Geraldine Lyla Hanson, the love of his life, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Minnesota. Gene was a wonderful loving husband & father to his two children, Michael and Laura. He and his brother, Charlie, had the Broadway Conoco Station and then the Fargo Seat Cover Center. In 1965 Gene and Geraldine moved the family to Redmond, Washington, where he went into construction and started his own home building business, building many beautiful custom homes. In 1996 they became snowbirds, moving from Washington to Pelican Rapids and Mesa Arizona. He enjoyed fixing and repairing things, gardening and working in his yard, watching the Minnesota Twins, and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his son Michael (Michele) Hendrickson, Sammamish, WA, daughter Laura (Craig) Trettevik, West Seattle, WA, five grandchildren, Troy (Heidi) Hendrickson, Theresa Drake, Heidi Michelle (Jason) Boyovich, Amy Spears, Joseph Trettevik and nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine in 2017 and were married 66 years, his parents, three sisters, Ruth Johnson, June Slinger, Dona Bevre and two brothers Merle Hendrickson and Charlie Hendrickson and grandson Ben. Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley. Graveside service to be held at a later date in Spring.
