Ellen Pauline Sherbrooke

Ellen Sherbrooke, age 93, of Pelican Rapids, MN, was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 13th, 2021. Ellen (Kreitzer) Sherbrooke was born May 27th, 1928 in West Fairview, Pennsylvania the daughter of Charles and Cora Kreitzer. When she was 18 years old, she boarded a train in Pennsylvania bound for the quaint small town of Pelican Rapids, to marry the love of her life, Ervin Sherbrooke. They were married on October 26th, 1946. Ellen helped out at their family businesses, The Broadway Cafe and Erv's Shoe Store, alongside Ervin. When she wasn't doing that, she was busy at home being the most excellent homemaker, making 3 course meals daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their home was what you would call a "Gathering House"; it was loved by all the neighborhood kids. Everyone was always welcomed any day and anytime. Their home was filled with more love and laughter than you could ever imagine. She enjoyed coffee time and good conversation with her neighborhood friends, embroidery and being a part of lady's aid at church; but most of all, Ellen loved being a mother. She so greatly cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were her life, along with Jesus. Ellen was a faithful servant of him and looked forward to watching at least one church service on television on Tuesdays, and for sure two on Sunday's. She would spend at least a half hour every night praying for many people. She touched the lives of anyone she met, and she will be so deeply missed by many. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ervin and infant daughter, Dawn. She will never be forgotten and greatly missed by her children, Chuck (Cheri) Sherbrooke, Battle Lake, MN; Shelley Hohman (Marvin Cusey), Pelican Rapids, MN; Luke (Jackie) Sherbrooke, Pelican Rapids, MN; Dawn (Dan) Egge, Pelican Rapids, MN; Barbara (John) Leger, Pelican Rapids, MN, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Private family burial service was held at Lakeview Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, MN on Thursday, July 15th, 2021 at 9:30am with Pastor Eric Schwirian and Allen Westby, S.A.M. officiating. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.
