Earl Trosvik, a true pillar of the Pelican Rapids community and a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the age of 92 at his home.  Born on September 7, 1931, to Lars and Mathilda (Arneklev) Trosvik, Earl grew up in Trondhjem Township west of Pelican Rapids and attended and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1949.  

After graduation he attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. In 1950 he was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in 1952 and returned to Pelican Rapids to farm with his brothers. He continued to farm first with his brothers and then with his children until he was 90 years of age.

Earl met Jane Poss on the dance floor at Perry's. They were married on August 11, 1956 in Minneapolis. Throughout his life, Earl loved to dance with Jane and they did so at every opportunity. He loved to farm. And importantly, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren at Crystal Lake. Earl and Jane wintered in Mission,Texas for 25 years. In the last few years of his life he enjoyed grocery shopping and other daily life activities always with Jane.

He was a member of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church and served on the Pelican Rapids School Board for 12 years. Earl was a member of the Pelican Rapids Masons and the Minnesota Turkey Growers Association.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of more than 67 years, Jane; children: Kim (George) Koeck, Tom (Tammy) Trosvik, Filicity Trosvik; eleven grandchildren: Emily (Ryan Price) Koeck, Brittany (Nate McNeal) Trosvik, Joe Marty, Zach (Megan) Koeck, Mackenzie Koeck, Sheldon (Emily Evenson) Marty, Marc (Arianna) Koeck, Sydney (Collin) Eaton, Alexis (Jay Boyer) Marty, Devin (Maddi) Schell, and Hannah Schell; great-grandchildren: Carson, Leighton, Kenya, Phoenix, Portland, Simon, Taylor, Nolan, River, Logan, and Moises; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, ten siblings: Arthur, Melvin, Orville, Leola, Margaret, Florence, Adeline, Gladys, Rose and Sylvester and two grandchildren: Tyler and Alyssa.

A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Alex Ohman. The Pelican Rapids V.F.W. Post #5252 and the American Legion Post #17 will pay tribute to Earl's military service with honors during the service. There will be an interment at Ringsaker Cemetery in the spring.

Earl Trosvik's impact on his community and his family will forever be felt, and though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to guide us, bringing comfort and solace in moments of reflection. In his memory, let us honor his legacy and the values he held dear, faith, family, and farming, keeping his light alive in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Pelican Rapids Library.
