Dora Claudine Curfman-Case

December 4, 1931 — August 6, 2021

Dora Claudine (Lusk) Curfman-Case age 89, died peacefully on August 6, 2021 at Wealshire of Bloomington, MN. Dora was born in Jamestown, North Dakota, to Claude and Doris (Woodward) Lusk. She spent most of her years in Fargo, ND. Dora was well-known for her Fargo catering and cake decorating supply businesses: The Oven Door and Cake & Candy World. She taught cake decorating and candy making many years for both Fargo Adult Education and North Dakota County Extension. She traveled the tri-state area promoting the art of cake and candy making and selling supplies. She made frequent appearances on WDAY’s “Party Line” hosted by Boyd Christenson and Verna Newell. In her later years, she wintered in Lakeland, Florida, where she shaped a booming business of dipping fresh strawberries in chocolate at the Florida Strawberry Festival. She took up oil painting and created many beautiful scenes from around the Pelican Rapids lakes area. Her best works include a scene from her daughter’s wedding at the original Dunvilla pavilion, her grandchildren coming in from a fishing expedition, and a one-room schoolhouse now used for 4H called the Tri-Club. In her retirement, she reacquainted herself with the piano and could be heard playing beautiful melodies at her care facilities: Riverfront on Main in Pelican Rapids, and Wealshire of Bloomington (and thank you for caring for her). Dora’s happy place was the family cabins on Lake Lida near Pelican Rapids, which the family has owned for 61 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Alton Curfman; sisters Barbara Abrahamson, Gladys Danies, and Mary B Wangerin; and second husband Manfred Case. She is survived by her children: Bonnie Kaasa (Doug), Ed Curfman (Cyndi), Lori Martz (Ted) and Richard Curfman; six grandchildren: Ben (Caryn), Andy and Nikki Kaasa; Melissa Miranda (Andre), Jack Stine, and Tyler Curfman (Maria); great-grandchildren: Meghann & Molly Kaasa, Luis Miranda, and Trenton Curfman. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Lake Lida Property Owners Association (LLPOA) to help keep Dora’s beloved Lake Lida clean and healthy. Mailing address: Zach Hermann, 4773 40th St. S., Fargo, ND 58104. Dora's Memorial Folder
