DeLores Haugrud

DeLores Haugrud, age 86, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died Monday, December 4, 2017 at Pelican Valley Care Center, Pelican Rapids, MN. DeLores Ann Elizabeth Killingstad was born on February 19, 1931 in Detroit Lakes to Carl and Mathilda (Mathias) Killingstad. She attended school in Detroit Lakes, graduating in 1950.  DeLores was employed at the Water and Light Plant in Detroit Lakes.  She married Arlan Haugrud on September 4, 1954 at First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. DeLores was a member of Grove Lake Lutheran Church and active in their women’s group. She enjoyed gardening, league bowling, making ceramics, and playing cards, especially whist.  She and Arlan spent many winters in Arizona.  DeLores took pleasure in traveling with Arlan to Hawaii, Florida and other areas.  She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. DeLores enjoyed spending time at the lake.  Her greatest love was spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Arlan; her children who will miss her dearly: Barb (Steve) Backstrom, Nancy (Randy) Nubson, Rick (Jan) Haugrud; seven grandchildren: Robert (Greta) Backstrom, Greg Backstrom, Beau (BreAnn) Haugrud, Adam (Molly) Doll, Jake Doll, Abby Haugrud and Lisa (Tyler) Arvidson; great-grandchildren: Abby and Reed Backstrom, Grace and Hope Doll, Harry and Lenny Haugrud, Easton, Wyatt and Amelia Arvidson; sister, Florence Mercer of Detroit Lakes; and numerous nieces and nephews. ­­­­She is preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter (Barb and Steve's child), sisters: Clara, Inga, Julia, Doris, Helen, and Grace; brothers: Carl, Ole, Jimmy, and Harold “Billy”. Visitation: Monday, December 11, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Grove Lake Lutheran Church, Rural Pelican Rapids, MN. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2017, at Grove Lake Lutheran Church, Rural Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Burial: Grove Lake Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.
