David Larson

David Martin Larson, age 78, a resident of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, died Monday, March 19, 2018 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s, Detroit Lakes, MN. David was born December 12, 1939 in Moorhead, MN, to Russell and Myrtle (Martinson) Larson. He attended school in Barnesville, graduating from Barnesville High School in 1957. Following his graduation he went to Moler Barber College in Fargo, ND. After he graduated in 1958, he worked as a barber for Broadway Barber in Fargo. David went on to purchase the Razor’s Edge in Fargo and later renamed to the Golden Razor in which he operated until 2006. Then he worked at University Barbers until April 2015 and then 8th Street Barbers until recently. On June 10, 1961 David was united in marriage to Kay Shores at the First Congregational Church, Pelican Rapids, MN. David and Kay moved to Pelican Lake in 1995 where they still were residing. He enjoyed hunting and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He had a passion for his family, also enjoyed his customers and friends. He loved his coffee time with his friends. He always had a great sense of humor. Most of all he had great passion for his friends. Dave loved his time at the lake and watching his family enjoy it also. David and his family are thankful for the help he received through his health challenges the last few years. He is survived by his wife, Kay, Detroit Lakes; son, Terry (Tammi), Battle Lake; daughter, Pam (Duane) Bernhardson, Grand Forks; 8 grandchildren: Chase (Joy), Mat (Elli), Trevor (Rachael), Brienna (Justin), Branden (Brittany), Adam (Hailey), Brady (Sidney), and Tanner; 1 great-grandchild, Kayleigh; 1 great-grandbaby expected in July; 2 brothers-in-law: Arden (Irene) Shores and Brian (Renee) Shores; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary and her husband Jack; father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Evie Shores. Visitation: Saturday, March 24, 2018, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake, Rural Pelican Rapids, MN.
