Clifford Edmund Gitz

Clifford Gitz passed away September 17, 2021, at St.Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes, MN. Clifford Edmund Gitz was born April 15th, 1934 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Emil and Mathilda (Thompson) Gitz. He attended country school near Pelican Rapids. He was drafted into the Army in May of 1957 and was stationed at Nuremburg Germany. Clifford married the love of his life, Darlene Drayton on November 6, 1960. They celebrated their 60th wedding Anniversary last fall. He farmed on the family farm during his younger years. Clifford was employed at West Central Turkeys in Pelican Rapids, MN for 30 years until retirement. He enjoyed spending time outside, fishing in summer and winter, raising a garden, cutting wood and mowing the lawn. Clifford also enjoyed visiting with family, friends, and neighbors. He is survived by his wife Darlene, daughter Bonnie (Lynn) Johnson, son Kevin Gitz, grandson Christian Johnson, granddaughter Erin (Greg) Johnson-Smith, great-grandchildren: Hayley Johnson, Emily, Drew and Grant Smith. Nieces DeAnna Wahlstrom, Doreen (Jeff) Dubay, Donna Wahlstrom, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Vernon and Linda Drayton, cousins, great nieces and nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Walter and Vernon, sisters: Helen, Jean, and Doris, Nephew: Lee, and brother-in-law: Duane.
