Agnes Borg

Agnes Borg, age 92, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls with family members by her side. Agnes Oline Ruud was born January 21, 1926, in Pelican Rapids, the daughter of Oscar and Alma (Orpen) Ruud. Agnes was confirmed at Pelican Valley Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids.  She attended country school #276 in rural Pelican Rapids and Pelican Rapids High School before the family moved to Denver, Colorado, where she graduated from high school in 1942.  After graduation, Agnes worked for department stores in Denver before moving back to Pelican Rapids where she baked for Pelican restaurants.  In 1951 Agnes graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Fargo, North Dakota.  She worked at the Pelican Valley Hospital in Pelican Rapids, Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead, MN, and the Regional Treatment Center in Fergus Falls. On January 26, 1974 Agnes married Herbert Borg at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids.  They lived in their home on Lake Lida until moving into Pelican Rapids in 1997.  Herb died on January 25, 2006.  In 2010 Agnes moved to Riverfront Manor in Pelican Rapids, where she resided until entering Pelican Valley Health Center in May of 2018. Agnes and Herb enjoyed traveling in the United States and also in Europe, especially visiting relatives in Norway and Sweden. Agnes enjoyed family, crossword puzzles, trying new recipes, reading, decorating, cats and daisies.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she participated in WELCA, Circle and Bible Studies.  She was also a member of VFW Auxiliary and volunteered with Hospice after retirement. Agnes is survived by Herb’s son, John (Karen) Borg of Morgantown, WV/ Pelican Rapids, MN; Herb’s daughter, Carole (Roger) Frommelt of Wayzata, MN; 5 grandchildren: Eric (Lori) Frommelt, Mark (Michelle) Frommelt, Jennifer (Randy) Sampson, Jason (Christy) Borg, and Samantha (Peter) Spain; 10 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Megan, Shawn and Aaron Frommelt, Connor and Erick Borg, Emma and Lily Sampson, and Pierce and Addison Spain; sisters-in-law: Josephine “Jo” Ruud and Lyla Ruud; and several nieces and nephew: Karl (Veronne) Ruud, Karen Shuler, and Kristine (Dave) Cameron; great-nephews: Brian and Kevin Ruud, Ryan Shuler, Clayton and Cullin Cameron. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herb; brothers, Kenneth and Norman Ruud; sister, Alice (Arthur H.) Nelson and niece, Kathryn Ann Nelson.
