Merle Miller

CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF...Merle Richard?Miller was born April 2, 1932, in White, SD, the son of Dick W. and Emma Jane (Comp) Miller. He grew up in White and in 1950 graduated from White High School. From 1956 to 1976 Merle went into the construction business as co-owner of G & M Lathing Company in Fargo, ND. Merle owned Miller and Sons Drywall in Fargo from 1975 to his semi-retirement in 1980. On August 18,1977, Merle married Joan "Jo" and they moved to rural Pelican Rapids in 1988.Merle was elected Supervisor on the Dunn Township Board in 1992, and has served as Chairman since 1995. Merle was very proud of the fact he obtained his commercial drivers license at the age of 72 and went to work for Sherbrooke Turf Inc. Merle is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in rural Pelican Rapids. At Zion, he served as Director of the Church Council; organized pancake breakfasts and turkey dinner fund raisers; and along with Jo, was Luther League Advisor. Merle and Jo started the Christmas Spirit Program in Pelican Rapids which included serving turkey dinners on Christmas Day.Merle, age 74, a resident of rural Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.He is survived by his wife: Jo of rural Pelican Rapids; 6 children: Darle (Melva) Miller of Dent, MN, Delwyn Miller of Brookings, SD, Gloria (Steve) Traczyk of Coon Rapids, MN, Dean (Sue) Miller of Cormorant, MN, Rocky (Dixie) Miller of West Fargo, ND, and Merle Miller, Jr. of Stanton, CA; 4 step-children: Mary Jo (Gene) Bemel of Phoenix, AZ, Sandra Stanley of Minneapolis, MN, LuAnn Rand of Moorhead, MN, and Michael (Debbie) Rand of Borup, MN; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Ricky.Blessed Be The Memory Of Merle Miller
