Harold O Wahlstrom

Harold was born May 23, 1925, the second child of Melvin A. Wahlstrom and Anna Sophie Kron Wahlstrom.Harold married Opal Mae Rosengren on December 14, 1956. They had two daughters, Maureen and Nancy.Harold had a strawberry and raspberry farm for over 60 years and was happiest when he could be out in the berry patch. He got to know people from all over the country through his berry business. He was very particular about planting and hand planted literally thousands and thousands of plants over his lifetime, a task he never delegated to anyone else. He enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and having good meals. He loved animals of all kinds, and he loved his family. He was very thankful to be able to die at his home and appreciated Lakeland Hospice and his family for taking care of him so he could.Harold had three grandsons, Taylor, Bailey and Connor Olson. He was very proud of them and loved the hugs they gave him. He started to pass his berry knowledge onto Connor and had us prepare a field and order strawberry plants for planting, giving specific instructions so we would do it right. He didn't want the berry business to end with him because it gave him so much pleasure and was important to him.Harold, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at his home under the care of his family and Lakeland Hospice.Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Opal, in December, 2006; his parents, Melvin and Anna; and his brothers: Wallace and Duane.Harold is survived by his daughters: Maureen (Bruce) Johnson of Pelican Rapids, and Nancy (Jay) Olson of Fergus Falls: grandsons: Taylor, Bailey and Connor Olson; his brother, Kenneth Wahlstrom of Erhard: sister-in-law, Arleen Wahlstrom of Pelican Rapids; nieces and nephews; a multitude of friends; and special friends, Harlan and Elaine Knutson of Pelican Rapids.Blessed Be The Memory Of Harold Wahlstrom
