Edward "Ed" Olson

Edward "Ed" Lawrence Olson was born August 14, 1919, in rural Pelican Rapids. He was one of 13 children born to Bernard and Nellie (Lee) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at South Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Rothsay, MN. Ed attended District 78 country school in Trondhjem Township, rural Pelican Rapids, and later worked for farmers in the area. On October 3, 1943 Edward was united in marriage to Ruby Rosella Ruud at the Pelican Valley Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. Ed and Ruby resided on a farm in Trondhjem Township and farmed until 1966. They moved into Pelican Rapids where Ed was employed at Park Region Oil, Coast-to-Coast Hardware, and the Pelican Liquor Store, retiring in 1984. Ruby passed away on February 28, 2002. Ed entered the Pelican Valley Nursing Home on May 21, 2007.Ed was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing cards with friends at the Senior Center, and visiting with friends and family. Many people considered Ed a pillar in the Pelican Rapids community.Ed, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids.Ed is survived by his 3 daughters: Joyce (Lee) Sundby of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Janice Curran of Roseville, MN, and Kathy (Doug) Freeman of Appleton, Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren: Shannon Curran, Kelly Freeman, Cory Freeman, Julie (Mark) Argall, Amy (Joe) Lease and Jason Sundby; 6 great-grandchildren: Justin and Bryant Argall, Joshua and Ashley Bayliss, Levi and Brianna Lease; brother, Raymond Olson of Seattle, Washington; sister, Beulah (Marlyn) Westby of Mesa, Arizona; 2 brothers-in-law: James (Anna Mae) Ruud of Pelican Rapids, and Kenneth Wahlstrom of Erhard, MN; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 6 brothers: Oliver, William, Morris, Clifford, Harold and Ernest; and 4 sisters: Amanda Hazelton, Laura Anderson, Bernice Olson and Gladys Olson.Blessed Be The Memory Of Edward "Ed" Olson
