Florence Small

Florence Small, age 83, a resident of Moorhead, formerly Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Saturday, June 21, 2008 in Palliative Care in MeritCare in Fargo, North Dakota.Florence Helen Nettestad was born March 24, 1925 in Pelican Rapids, MN,the daughter of Edwin and Jennie (Hagerup) Nettestad. She attended school in Pelican Rapids, graduating from Pelican Rapids High School. After graduation, Florence worked as a waitress at the Clauson Restaurant in Pelican Rapids. On June 20, 1944 Florence was united in marriage to Donald Small in Pelican Rapids where they lived until 1951. Donald and Florence moved to Barnesville where they lived until his death in 1991. After Donalds death, Florence moved to Moorhead Manor where she lived until the present time.Florence loved spending time with her family, and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her pastimes was watching the Lawrence Welk program, Wheel of Fortune, and the Minnesota Twins on TV. She enjoyed eating desserts, which was one of her favorite foods. Florence was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Barnesville.Florence is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Don) Swenson of Moorhead, MN; 2 grandchildren: Todd (Lynn) Swenson and their children: Molly, Annie, Sam, and Matt; and Michelle (Kevin) Flynn and their children: Jordan, Jake, Jolie, and Jace; and 2 sisters: Esther Jenson and Jeanette Gobel, both of Pelican Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; 3 brothers: Harry, Milo and Orin; and 7-year-old sister, Elna.Blessed Be The Memory Of Florence Small
