Nicholas Kaluzniak MD

Nicholas Jack Kaluzniak, M.D., age 78, of Pelican Rapids, MN passed away peacefully on Sunday September 7, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer at Meritcare Palliative Care Center in Fargo, ND. Nicholas was born on December 20, 1929 in Walkyburg, Manitoba, Canada. He graduated from the Happy Thought High School and received his degree in Honors Chemistry from the University of Manitoba in 1951. He graduated from the University of Manitoba Medical School in 1956. He married Joan (Senka) in June of that year in Flin Flon, Manitoba, and began practicing medicine in Langdon, North Dakota. He later received his certification as a Family Practitioner. During his 32 years of practice, he was proud to have delivered hundreds of children and served several generations of local residents. Nicholas pursued his life actively - in community service, as a compassionate friend to many, working outdoors in his gardens, traveling, refinishing antiques, golfing and playing tennis. In retirement, he enjoyed travel, visiting his friends and family and spending winters in Florida. Nicholas was our inspiration whose passion was to provide endless love and guidance to his family.He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Joan, daughters: Carla (Jonathon) Parrington of Eden Prairie, MN, Monica (Mark) LaBriola of Sacramento, CA, sons: Paul of Forest Lake, MN, David (Tracy) of Plymouth, MN, Michael of Saint Paul, MN, brother: Clarence of Vancouver, Canada, and grandchildren: Alexander Smith , Keaton Smith , Briana LaBriola , Joseph LaBriola, Kassandra Kaluzniak, Heather Kaluzniak , step-grandchildren: Christopher (Becky) Parrington , Matthew Parrington , Benjamin Parrington and step great-grandchildren Michael Nicholas Parrington and Jonathon Lucas Parrington.He is preceded by his parents, Peter and Annie Kaluzniak, his sister, Zita Kaluzniak, and brother, Peter Kaluzniak Jr. Memorials preferred to the Great Plains Food Bank (1720 3rd Ave. N.
