Gurneith Johnson

Gurneith Johnson, age 84, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Gurneith M. Schap was born June 18, 1924, in Fargo, North Dakota, the daughter of loving parents, Mike and Myrtle Schap. Gurneith had two older brothers, William and Loren.She grew up near Oriska, ND, on the family farm.After graduating from Oriska, she worked for the Manchester Biscuit Company in Fargo.After World War II, she met the love of her life James L. Johnson, they were married on September 29, 1947.Gurneith and James lived in Oriska and Hatton, ND, before building their home in Pelican Rapids where James worked as a carpenter in and around the Fargo area.Gurneith was active in the community and St. Leonards Catholic Church in Pelican Rapids.She worked various jobs throughout her life, but nothing was more important to her than being a wife and homemaker to James, they were married for 48 years.James died on January 10, 1995.In October of 2006, Gurneith moved to Mill Pond View Apartments in Pelican Rapids where she enjoyed visiting with family and friends.For health reasons, she moved to the Pelican Valley Nursing Home on December 17, 2008.Gurneith is survived by many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Myrtle; husband, James; brothers:William and Loren.Blessed Be the Memory of Gurneith Johnson
