Willard Drayton

Willard Drayton, age 89, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Willard Vernon Drayton was born January 24, 1920, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Walter and Nora (Wyantt) Drayton.Williard attended country school near Pelican Rapids.He worked on the family farm and also did woodcutting prior to marriage. On May 10, 1941, Willard was united in marriage to Myrtle Evenstad, Pastor Mandius Gjerde performed their ceremony.They farmed from 1941 until 1979 when they moved into Pelican Rapids.In August of 2003, Willard and Myrtle moved to the Love n Care Inn #2 in Pelican Rapids.Myrtle died October 26, 2004.In 2005, Willard entered the Good Samaritan Society in Pelican Rapids.Willard enjoyed music, especially playing guitar.He took pleasure in gardening and visiting with family and friends.Willard is survived by son: Vernon (Linda) Drayton of Saginaw, Michigan; daughter: Darlene (Clifford) Gitz of Pelican Rapids, MN; 4 grandchildren: Bonnie (Lynn) Johnson of Moorhead, MN, Kevin Gitz of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, Jeff(Lisa) Drayton of Clio, Michigan, and Jennifer (David) Winker of Memphis, Tennessee; 6 great-grandchildren: Christian Johnson, Erin (Greg) Smith, Madeline and Michael Drayton, Isabella and Drayton Winker; 2 great-great grandchildren: Emily and Drew Smith; sister, Carol (Alfred) Schultz, Spokane, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; brother, Melvin Drayton; sister, Alva Ohman.Blessed Be The Memory Of Willard Drayton
