Lorraine Peterson, age 84, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at MeritCare Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, North Dakota.Eunice Lorraine Hoadley was born March 19, 1924, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the daughter of Floyd and Myrtle (Randall) Hoadley.She was baptized at Scambler Church in rural Pelican Rapids and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. Lorraine attended Bangor School through the 8th grade and Pelican Rapids High School through 11th grade. In her youth, Lorraine was active in 4-H. On March 19, 1949, Lorraine was united in marriage to Melvin Wilford Peterson at her parents home in Scambler Township.Lorraine worked in Fergus Falls as a dishwasher at Claude Moody and the Lincoln Caf where she also was a night cook.She worked at St. Marys Hospital in Detroit Lakes as a dishwasher and making baby formula. Later she worked at the B & L Caf in Pelican Rapids as a dishwasher.Lorraine enjoyed baking, especially rice pudding, graham cracker/vanilla pudding dessert, fruit cake, sandbakkles, cut molasses cookies, glorified rice, and scotcharoos.She loved country western music and old-time polka party music; she enjoyed dancing the waltz and two-step. She spent her quiet time doing word searches, puzzles, latch hook and embroidery.She babysat for her grandchildren and many other children, liked to shop, loved to eat out, and canned produce from Dads garden.According to her family she made the best potato salad around.She socialized with neighbors and friends over coffee and cookies. Lorraine will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and helping hand; she always remembered others especially at holidays.But most of all she took pleasure in her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church where she was involved in ladies aide, quilting (the coffee lady), circle morning group, and vacation bible school as the kitchen helper with Koolaid and goodies for the staff and children.Lorraine is survived by her children:Sharon (Ed) Fjestad, Pelican Rapids, MN, Karla (Larry) Netland, Bagley, MN, Linda (Bruce) Riebe, Frazee, MN; step-son, Gary (Peggy) Jonson; brother, Ralph (Kit) Hoadley; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Myrtle; husband, Melvin; and sister, Joyce.Blessed Be The Memory Of Lorraine Peterson
