Margaret Meyer, age 85, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home, Pelican Rapids.Margaret Magdeline Steege was born November 26, 1923, in Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of Ted and Minnie (Schedtler) Steege.Margaret was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Sumner.She graduated from Sumner High School and attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, obtaining her teaching degree.In 1972, she graduated from Mankato State University with a special education degree.She was united in marriage to Wilferd Meyer on January 11, 1945, in Maynard, Iowa.They lived in Wells, Minnesota, for several years before moving to Worthington, Minnesota. Margaret taught special education in Worthington at the elementary school from 1963 to 1992.Wilferd died in 1987.In 2005, she moved to Pelican Rapids to be near her daughter.Margaret entered the Pelican Valley Nursing Home in May of 2009.Margaret was a member of American Lutheran Church in Worthington where she was active in circle and quilting.While residing in Pelican Rapids, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church involved in circle, quilting, and bible studies. She was a member of the Lioness Club in Worthington.She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, and spending time with her family.Margaret is survived by her sons, Bruce (Sharon) Meyer, Yellville, AR, and Robert (Lilly) Meyer, San Juan Capistrano, CA; two daughters, Dorothy (Craig) Brooks, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and Julie (Greg) Spina, Pelican Rapids, MN; nine grandchildren:Melanie, Angela, Neil, Jeremy, Cassandra,Jonathan, Josiah, Meghan and Natalie; four great-grandchildren:Easton, Lillian, Colby, and Brendan; brother, Donald (Arlene) Steege, The Villages, FL; sister, Ruth (Gordon) Warnke, Marion, IA;brother-in-law, Ronald (Marge) Meyer, Sumner, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilferd; parents, Ted and Minnie; and infant sister, Dorothy.Blessed Be The Memory Of Margaret Meyer
