LeRoy Martens, age 84, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota.LeRoy Robert Martens was born December 28, 1924, in Meeker County, Minnesota, the son of Laurence and Frieda (Wallmow) Martens.LeRoy was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Meeker County.He attended Litchfield High School.He farmed for several years near Darwin and worked for Minnesota Valley Breeders as a technician for 12 years.On November 3, 1962, LeRoy was united in marriage to Dorothy Severtson at First Lutheran Church, Fargo.LeRoy managed Park Region Coop in Pelican Rapids from 1965 to 1973.They moved to Hartford, Wisconsin, where he managed the Iron Ridge Coop until 1977 and managed Coop Services in Greenwood, Wisconsin, for 8 years.In 1985, LeRoy retired and they moved back to Pelican Rapids.LeRoy enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and billiards, bowling and softball.He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Pelican Rapids Rotary and the Greenwood Lions.LeRoy is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children: Larry Martens, Twin Falls, ID, Keith Martens, Pahrump, NV, Kristi Martens, Twin Falls, ID, Bruce Martens, Stillwater, MN, Mike (Diane) Martens, Orangevale, CA, and Barry (Jodi) Martens, Eau Claire, WI; six grandchildren: Alex, Erica, Allison, Bobby, Madison andJacob Martens; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence and Frieda; two sisters:Maxine Miller and Phyllis Gabrielson; and daughter-in-law, Liz Martens.Blessed Be The Memory of LeRoy Martens
