Bert Anderson, age 86, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Saturday, October 10, 2009, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, at Lake Region Hospital with his family at his side.Bertram LeRoy Anderson was born March 18, 1923, in Lisbon, North Dakota, the son of Duffy and Irene (Beaver) Anderson.He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon.He grew up in the Lisbon area and worked as an auto mechanic.He attended auto school in Minneapolis, Minnesota.Later he moved to the Fargo / Moorhead area.He owned Berts Auto Repair in Moorhead, Minnesota, and later worked for Thorstad Service, retiring in 1985. Bert served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952.He was an active member of the American Legion Color Guard and the Drum and Bugle Corps and attended many state and national conventions.Bert married Fran VanderPlaats Carlson on November 20, 1965.They made their home in Moorhead until 1998 at which time they moved to their lake home on Prairie Lake, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Bert enjoyed his grandkids, sports, fishing, hunting and gardening and his many friends at the Fargo Legion and Pelican Rapids V.F.W.Bert is survived by his wife, Fran; 2 sons:Brian (Brenda) Anderson, Fargo, ND, and David (Shannon) Anderson, Moorhead, MN; 5 daughters:Diane Anderson, Moorhead, MN, Peggy Baumgart, Moorhead, MN, Vicki (Norm) Hansen, Lisbon, ND, Debbi (Tom) Paschke, Moorhead, MN, and Melissa (Mike) Vetter, Buchanan, ND; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers:Dale (Dorothy) Anderson and Donald ( Elaine) Anderson, both of Lisbon, ND; 2 sisters:Nina (Bud) Naughton, Douglas, WY, and Myrna Harris, Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Duffy and Irene; and 2 sons:Bertram, Jr. Butchie and Steven.Blessed Be The Memory Of Bert Anderson
