Joseph Zurbay, Jr., age 69, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died Monday, January 11, 2010, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids. Joseph John Zurbay, Jr. was born April 1, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Joseph and Lorraine (Langseth) Zurbay, Sr.Joe was baptized at St. Marys Russian Orthodox Church in Minneapolis and later confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale, Minnesota.Joe graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1960, and then attended North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, North Dakota.Joe worked in Minneapolis then joined the U.S. Army where he was a marksman and sharpshooter. While serving from 1963 1965, Joe served for one year in Korea. Upon returning from service, he worked as a custodian at Univac in Minneapolis.Then he moved to Pelican Rapids where he farmed for several years and later worked at West Central Turkeys in Pelican Rapids until retirement.Joe loved hunting, fishing, and archery. He enjoyed being outdoors and watching the wildlife at his acreage near Tamarac Lake.He took pleasure in watching old westerns and listening to music. Loyally, he attended the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag, Minnesota, each Labor Day weekend.He will be greatly missed by his devoted companion, Puppy.Joe is survived by his brother, Dennis (Donna) Zurbay, Brooklyn Park, MN; and his sister, Marilyn (Gary) Fergestad, Loudon, TN; six nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lorraine.Blessed Be The Memory Of Joseph Zurbay
