Karen Johnson, age 66, a resident of Detroit Lakes, formerly of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at her home in Detroit Lakes.Karen LaVonne Toftely was born March 27, 1944, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the daughter of Clarence and Myrna (Schipper) Toftely.She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church.Karen graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1962.As a high school student, Karen made a personal decision for Jesus Christ.On November 18, 1961, she was united in marriage to James E. Johnson in Pelican Rapids.Karen worked at Pelican Valley Nursing Home for over 30 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant.Jim preceded her death on May 5, 2001.Karen helped on their farm and enjoyed riding with Jim when he drove truck.She made many friends while working at Pelican Valley Nursing Home.She was an active member of Pelican Rapids Baptist Church where she served on many boards, participated in circle, and was church pianist for many years.She took pleasure in serving the Lord and sharing Christ with others.Karen is survived by her sons:Bradley (Darice) Johnson, Keith (Tammy) Johnson, both of Fergus Falls, MN, and Darwin (Brenda) Johnson, Fargo, ND; 3 foster sons: Phuong Tran, Glyndon, MN, Loc (Trang) Duong, Sartell, MN, and Lua (Chanh) Duong, Stockbridge, GA; 10 grandchildren:Jacob, Carlie, Bryanna, Travis, Vanessa, Lynnzee, Benjamin, Adam, Amber, and Aaron; 6 foster grandchildren:Brady, Jada, Kimberly, Kelly, Anthony, and Wendy; sister-in-law, Zoila Toftely, Pelican Rapids, MN; niece, Jessica, and nephew, Jesse; great-niece, Yelena; foster daughter-in-law, Barb Bijanzadeh, Cocoa, FL; and Karens special companion, John Renner, Detroit Lakes, MN.She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Myrna; husband, Jim; brother, Jerome Toftely; foster son, Iraj Bijanzadeh; and foster granddaughter, Brittany Tran.Blessed Be The Memory Of Karen Johnson
