Denny Nelson, age 65, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Friday, March 18, 2011, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids.Dennis Everett Nelson was born September 28, 1945, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Neil and Edna (Ness) Nelson. Denny was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids. In 1964, he graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. Denny worked at Greene's Poultry Farm and Pelican Ready Mix for many years. He worked part-time at Birchwood Golf Course until he was forced to retire due to health reasons. Denny entered Pelican Valley Nursing Home in the fall of 2004. Denny's favorite places were the golf course, bowling alley, and pool hall. At Birchwood Golf Course he was known for his shots into the woods where his ball would bounce back onto the fairway, fondly known as, the "Denny" shot. He enjoyed golfing barefoot. Denny liked watching the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, and PGA golf on television. Denny was fond of gardening.Denny is survived by his six brothers: Duane (Jo) Nelson, Carlos, MN, Stan (Carolyn) Nelson, Matthews, NC, Byron (Patricia) Nelson, Pelican Rapids, MN, Winton Nelson, Vergas, MN, Glen Nelson, Pelican Rapids, MN, and LeRoy Nelson, Pelican Rapids, MN; four sisters: Yvonne Wells, Pelican Rapids, MN, Ruth Hansen, Sleepy Eye, MN, Gail (Randy) Narveson, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Lita Nelson, Mapleton, ND; and many nieces and nephews.
