Donna Mae Sather

Donna Mae Sather, age 76, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids.Donna Mae Nelson was born March 24, 1935, in Barnesville, Minnesota, the daughter of Herman and Myrtle (Ness) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at North Immanuel Church in rural Pelican Rapids. During her youth she helped out at the Goodyville Store which her parents owned and operated. In 1953, she graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. She worked at Moesher Grocery Store in Pelican Rapids for a number of years until moving to Seattle, Washington, where she lived and worked for some time. On June 10, 1956, Donna Mae was united in marriage to Kenneth Sather at North Immanuel Church. Together they raised five children. In 1985, Donna Mae started the Mill Pond Caf that she owned and operated for several years. She briefly worked at Pelican Valley Health Center in housekeeping. For 10 years, Donna Mae worked in Fergus Falls at Walmart in their fabric department. She also cleaned cabins at Solinger Resort and had some custom house cleaning clients.Some of Donna Mae's favorite hobbies were sewing and baking. She took joy in baking and making quilts and baby blankets which she proudly and graciously shared with many friends and family. She was an active member of Grove Lake Lutheran Church in rural Pelican Rapids where she was involved in Grove Lake Quilters and circle. Donna Mae was also a member of Quilts of Valor. Her grandchildren were extremely important to her and she treasured spending time with them.Donna Mae is survived by her husband, Kenneth Sather, Pelican Rapids, MN; children: Mary (Michael) Stoltman, Moorhead, MN, Julie (Lee) Livdahl, Pelican Rapids, MN, Elaine (Earl) Ehalt, Pelican Rapids, MN, David (Jennifer) Sather, Maple Grove, MN, and Diane (Scott) Nelson, Savage, MN; 10 grandchildren: Gabriel and Nicholas Stoltman, Spencer and Hope Livdahl, Parker and Amanda Blanchard, Ryan and Alyssa Sather, Brooke and Lauren Nelson; two step-grandchildren: Molly (Nic) Heck and Emily Ehalt; sisters-in-law: Margaret Kjer, Pelican Rapids, MN, and JoAnn (Edward) Johnson, Erhard, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
