Betty Vigen

Betty L. Vigen, age 84, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Center in Pelican Rapids.Betty Lou Holman was born September 26, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Edna (Halbakken) Holman. She was raised in Rothsay, Minnesota, and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1945. Betty then began working as a bookkeeper at the Farmers Co-op Creamery (AMPI) where she worked for 31 years. On November 23, 1949, she was united in marriage to Elmer D. "Bud" Vigen in the Hamar Lutheran Church Parsonage in Rothsay. They made their home in Pelican Rapids until 1981 when they moved to the Vigen family farm in Erhards Grove Township. Bud passed away in 1995. Betty continued to live on the farm until 1998 when she moved back into Pelican Rapids. Betty was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was baptized at Pelican Valley Evangelical Lutheran Church and confirmed at Hamar Lutheran Church. She enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening, cooking and baking. She volunteered at the Helping Hands Store and served Meals on Wheels to residents of the Mill Pond View Apartments. Betty was very well known for her beautiful handwriting. One of her greatest joys was spending time at her cabin on Prairie Lake. Betty is survived by her uncle, Ralph Holman of Big Timber, Montana; aunt, Nora Henrickson of Oakdale, Minnesota, and numerous cousins.She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Jay, and his wife, Gladys.Blessed Be The Memory of Betty VigenFuneral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
