Robert Carlson

Robert "Bob" Carlson, age 86, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota died on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Sanford Health Palliative Care Unit in Fargo.Robert Jerome Carlson was born January 12, 1925 in Pelican Rapids, the son of David and Olive (Anderson) Carlson. In 1943 Bob graduated from Pelican Rapids High School. Bob served in the United States Army from 1944 to1946 during World War II. He worked for Elk River Concrete in Fergus Falls from 1955 to 1968. On March 16, 1968 Robert was united in marriage with Ardella Demmer in Pelican Rapids. From 1968 until he retired in 1991 he worked for Park Region Co-op in Pelican Rapids. Ardella died on May 25, 2000.Bob was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Pelican Rapids and the Pelican Rapids V.F.W. Post #5252. For several years he drove bus for the Pelican Rapids Senior Citizens. Robert enjoyed reading, gardening, hunting, fishing with Ardella and using his metal detector. The biggest joy in Bob's life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.Robert is survived by his son Jerome (Marty) Carlson, Vergas, MN; two grandchildren: Jed and Ellie; brothers-in-law: Alvin (Marian) Demmer, Washington, Virgil Peterson, Fergus Falls, and Orville Demmer, Fergus Falls; sister-in-law, Forence Robins, Bemidji.
