Everett Langseth Restad, age 79, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota died Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.Everett was born on August 1, 1932 at Dr. Boyson Hospital, Pelican Rapids, the son of Maurice and Manda (Langseth) Restad. He was baptized at Grove Lake Lutheran Church near Pelican Rapids. Everett attended rural school Districts #183 and #26 near Pelican Rapids. He graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1950. In 1951 Everett enlisted and reported to the U.S. Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, Illinois. He served in the Korean War as a torpedoes mate on the U.S.S. Sproston receiving the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1955.In 1953 Everett was united in marriage to Lila Ohman. They were the parents of four sons: Steven, Gregory, Sheldon and Brian (deceased at birth).He graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, after which he went to work for Boeing Aircraft in Washington. They made their home in Lynnwood, Washington. Everett also designed the boiler system at the Veterans Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. He managed two manufacturing companies, Dayton & Rogers and Nutting Truck & Caster Company, Faribault, MN. He was also an engineering consultant for Carleton College, Northfield, MN. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and also a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Society of Metals, the Elks Lodge, the Eagles, V.F.W., American Legion and the Pool Hall Gang. Everett loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter.Everett is survived by his son: Steven and granddaughter, Alexis, at Granite Falls, WA, son: Greg and wife Linda, in Alameda, CA, and son: Sheldon, wife, Brenda, and family Bryan, Alicia and Lindsay in Lynnwood, WA; his brother: Marlon Restad, Pelican Rapids, MN; sister: LouAnn Restad, New Brighton, MN, sister: Maureen (Bob) Berg, Pelican Rapids, MN, sister: Sharon Halbakken, Pelican Rapids, MN; several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son: Brian.Funeral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
