Milan Eudine Tingelstad

Milan Eudine Tingelstad, age 89, a resident of Rural Detroit Lakes, Minnesota died, Monday, January 30, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Milan was born August 17, l922 in Dunn Township near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Anton and Minda (Johnson) Tingelstad. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church near Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. He attended school in District #167 in Dunn Township after which he cut wood for several years. On October 7, 1943 he was united in marriage to Leona Priem in South Dakota.In 1943 he entered the U. S. Army during World War II. He was in the 79th Infantry Division of General Patton's 3rd Army. Following his military service, they moved to International Falls, Minnesota where he worked in the pulp mill. They moved back near Pelican Rapids where he worked as a carpenter. Milan also performed seasonal work such as picking potatoes, harvested ice, and cutting wood. Leona died January 5, 2008. In February of 2011, Milan entered Good Samaritan Society in Pelican Rapids.Milan was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, bird-watching, woodworking on his lathe, harvesting maple syrup and his raspberry crop.He is survived by his sons: Gary (JoAnn) Tingelstad, Detroit Lakes, MN, Roger (Sandy) Tingelstad, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Harlan (Betty) Tingelstad, Pelican Rapids, MN; one daughter: Cheryl (Don) Buchmann, Rothsay, MN; eleven grandchildren: Dr. Kaare (Kim)Tingelstad, Londa (Doug) Johnson, Tina Anderson, Jeff (Kelly) Olson-Tingelstad, Teresa (Brad) Maczkowicz, Katie Bell, Laura (Al) Fowler, Kimberly Reiff, Jason (April) Thorson, Jessica (John) Kappes and Kathy Krauth; 29 great-grandchildren; brothers: Herb (Lila) Tingelstad and Loyal (Shirley) Tingelstad of Detroit Lake, MN; sisters: Eleanor Tingelstad, Fergus Falls, MN, Dora (Myron) Weber, Spring Lake Park, MN; sisters-in-law: Virginia Early, Detroit Lakes, MN, Luella Tingelstad, Poulsbo, WA and Joyce Preim, Fergus Falls, MN.Milan was preceded in death by his wife Leona; parents; son, Myron; brothers: Alvin and LeRoy; and son-in-law, Marcus ThorsonVisitation: Thursday, February 2, 2012, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN and resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.Service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012, at Zion Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MNClergy: Intern Pastor Denise FossenBurial: Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery Visitaion: Thursday, February 2, 2012, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN and resume one hour prior to the service at the church.Service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, MN.Funeral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
