Helen Jacobson, age 87, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Pelican Valley Nursing Home in Pelican Rapids.Helen Adeline Poss was born May 11, 1924 in Pelican Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Clara Erickson. She was baptized at Pelican Valley Church and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor M. S. Gjerde. Helen went to country school for eight years and attended a half of a year of high school. On February 7, 1945 Helen was united in marriage to Elmer Jacobson at the courthouse in Fergus Falls while Elmer was home on leave from the military. Elmer spent 4 years serving in World War II. They raised four children: Lou Ann, Cheryl, Jerry, and Sharon. While her children were growing up she taught Sunday school at Zion Lutheran Church. Helen spent most of her life working at Fair Hills Resort, Twin Shores Resort, and for 21 years at West Central Turkeys. Elmer preceded Helen in death on October 19, 1992. Helen moved into the Mill Pond Apartments in 1998. She missed Elmer greatly after his death and after moving missed country life, especially, gardening, flowers, fishing, and hunting. Helen was a member most of her life at Zion Lutheran Church. She loved going to church. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16. Each night she would recite Psalm 23 by heart. She loved her large family of four children, 10 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. Gospel music was her favorite.Helen is survived by her children: Lou Ann (Roger) Schleske, Pelican Rapids, MN, Cheryl (William) Moberg, Vergas, MN, Jerry (D. Mae Ceryes) Jacobson, Vergas, MN, and Sharon (Chuck) Wallace, Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters: LaVerna Mjones, Moorhead, MN, and Leona (Richard) Mattson, Detroit Lakes, MN; brother, James (Darlene) Moore, Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara; husband, Elmer; and infant grandson, Cary Barth.Visitation: Friday, February 17, 2012 from 5:00 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, and one hour prior to the service at the church.Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids, MinnesotaClergy: Rev.
