Alice Joyce Larson

Alice Joyce Larson, age 86, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota died, Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Pelican Valley Nursing Home, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota .Alice Joyce Larson was born June 9, 1925, in Dickinson, North Dakota, the daughter of Charles and Johanna (Nelson) Finkle. She graduated from Oakes High School, Oakes, North Dakota, where she was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps. After graduation she worked as a telephone operator in Oakes. and in the shipyard, Minneapolis, Minnesota during World War II. On August 10, l947 Alice Joyce was united in marriage to Kenneth Larson. They lived in North Dakota and South Dakota. In 1965 they moved to Pelican Rapids. Alice Joyce was a homemaker and also worked as a cook at the high school and at The Shoe Inn in Pelican Rapids. After Kenny retired they spent their winters in Arizona.Alice Joyce was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and many choirs. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Pelican Rapids. Alice Joyce and Kenny enjoyed following their children and grandchildren's activities. She especially loved dancing, singing and spending time with her family.She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of nearly 65 years, Kenneth Larson, Pelican Rapids, MN; daughters: Carolyn (Joel) Nelson, Cheryl (Bob) King, Colette (Daryl) Haugrud, all of Pelican Rapids, MN; Cathie (Dale) Thompson, Fargo, ND; Connie (Terry) Sjostrom, Pelican Rapids, MN; Charles (Barb) Larson, St. Michael, MN; Curtis (Roxann) Larson, Moorhead, MN; Christie (Dave) Shulstad, Pelican Rapids, MN; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren; sisters: Wanda Hoeck and Marilyn Rees, AZ; brother, Keith (Ginny) Finkle, Livingston, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.Alice Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Stephanie Gail Larson; brother, Charles; sister, Carol; son-in-law, Roger Dillon.Memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund and Pelican Valley Health Center, Pelican Rapids, MN.Visitation: Friday, April 6, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Clergy: Pastor Roger Rotvold and Pastor Louie Suter Burial: Ringsaker Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota.Funeral Home:Larson Funeral Home304 3rd Street S.E.Pelican Rapids, MNUS 56572
