Linda Haugen

November 13, 1938 — August 1, 2013

Linda Haugen, age 74 a resident of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Pelican Rapids, MN, died on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND after a courageous battle with cancer. Linda Ann Guntzburger was born on November 13, 1938 in Larimore, North Dakota, the daughter of Howard and Elsie (Carlson) Guntzburger. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Honeyford, ND. Linda was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, MN and Christ the King in Moorhead, MN. She attended Wheatfield Country School through the eighth grade. In 1956, she graduated from the Gilby Public Schools, in Gilby, ND. In 1962, she earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Education from Mayville College. On March 21, 1959, she married Rex Haugen at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Honeyford, ND. Linda taught in Stephen, MN, Page, ND, Beltrami, MN, and then finally Pelican Rapids, MN. In 1979, she started working as an office manager at Hexum's Veterinary Clinic. After moving to Moorhead, MN in 1996, she worked at the Canary Dress Shop in the Moorhead Center Mall. Linda was known for her amazing smile and welcoming heart. Family, (especially grandchildren), were her number one priority. Linda's heart and love were open to many others who cherished her as their second mom. Her devotion to her husband Rex defines unconditional love. Their love was supportive, gentle and respectful. Rex was her protector and best friend. Linda was the hardest worker, no project too big. Her vegetable gardens were miraculous, enough to feed the entire town. She loved planning family gatherings, and she would prepare the most remarkable meals. Mom loved to play cards and could play for hours, especially if we played for nickels and even sometimes quarters. Mom loved to walk and kept herself in great shape; her swimming friends at the YMCA provided her strength. Linda loved to read; ending the day with a good book was part of her daily routine. Survivors include her husband Rex of Moorhead, MN, and 3 daughters: Kim Neubauer, Princeton, MN and 3 grandsons: Zachary, St. Paul, MN; Jordan, Princeton, MN; and Tanner, Madison, WI.
