Elois Isaacson

Elois Evelyn Herzog was born on January 6, 1919 in Fort Yates, North Dakota, the daughter of Omar and Grace (Keogh) Herzog. Elois grew up in North Dakota then as a little girl moved to Pelican Rapids and attended county school. She stayed at home to help raise her siblings after her mother's death. On April 25, 1938 Elois was united in marriage to Hilbert John Isaacson in Sisseton, South Dakota. The couple lived in Pelican Rapids for about a year then moved to Washington for a few years. Hilbert and Elois returned to the Pelican Rapids area in 1946. Elois did lots of domestic work, cleaning and baking in the lakes area. Then she went to work for West Central Turkey of Pelican Rapids and later worked for the USDA as an inspector for 26 years. In 2006, Elois moved into Pelican Rapids after Hilbert's death on February 21, 2005.Elois loved to bake and was a wonderful cook. She raised large vegetable gardens and canned the produce. She also raised and sold raspberries. Elois was well known for her beautiful flower gardens. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint and quilting. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of Ladies Aid.Elois Evelyn (Herzog) Isaacson, age 94, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Pelican Valley Health Center in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. Elois is survived by son: Vernon (Mary Kay) Isaacson of Thief River Falls, MN; daughter: Arlene (Greg) Olsen of Elk River, MN; 7 grandchildren: Beth (Greg) Mason, Mark (Robyn) Isaacson, Steve (Julie) Olsen, Brian Olsen, Jeff (Amy) Olsen, Jill (Jim) Dillon and Amy (Nick) Chiodo; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Kenneth (Ruth) Herzog of Vancouver, WA, and Charles (Shirley) Herzog of Montesano, WA; 3 sisters: Marvel Peterson of Pelican Rapids, MN, Marge Engebretson of Pelican Rapids, MN and Delores (Everett) Peterson of Fargo, ND.Elois is preceded in death by her husband Hilbert, her parents; 5 siblings: T.J. Herzog, Clinton Herzog, Vince Herzog, Keo Herzog and Lorraine Lafleur.Visitation: Thursday December 5, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN.
