Evelyn Herting

Evelyn Viola Honrud was born March 30, 1918 near Rollag, Minnesota, in Tansem Township, the daughter of Severin and Mathilda (Hagen) Honrud. She was baptized at Little Bethany Church in Norwegian Grove and confirmed at Aspelund Lutheran Church in Rollag. Evelyn grew up on the farm, attended District #77 country school, and cared for her mother. Later she worked at various stores and homes. On September 30, 1962, Evelyn was united in marriage to Eddie Herting at the church parsonage in Hawley. After their marriage they lived on Eddie's farm for 10 years in Scambler Township, near Pelican Rapids. In 1972, Eddie and Evelyn moved to the home Eddie built on Prairie Lake, near Pelican Rapids, living there for 26 years. Eddie died in December of 1997. In 1998, Evelyn moved into town. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, fancy work, and quilting. She was a member of Grove Lake Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and Circle, and Homemakers.Evelyn Herting, age 95, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Pelican Valley Health Center in Pelican Rapids.Eleven nieces and nephews survive Evelyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Severin and Mathilda; husband, Eddie; brothers: Marvin and Orville; and sisters: Stella Kvamme and Myrtle Haglund.Visitation: Friday, December 27, 2013 from 5 pm to 7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids.
