REMEMBERING THE LIFE OFDorothy Nodsle was born September 19, 1931 near Erhard, Minnesota to Harold and Julia (Moen) Nodsle. She was baptized and confirmed at Bagstevold Lutheran Church in Erhard. Dorothy attended school District 161 in Maplewood Township and later graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1948.Dorothy was united in marriage to Lennart Backstrom on May 23, 1950 at Bagstevold Lutheran Church in Erhard with Reverend Rosholt presiding. Dorothy and Lennart lived east of Erhard where they owned and operated the family farm. She helped with the farm duties but also worked at West Central Turkeys Inc. until 1973. After working at West Central Turkeys Inc., Dorothy helped out on the farm: milking cows, baling hay, and all of the other farm duties. Dorothy was an active member of Central Lutheran Church, church circle, and their ladies aid. She was a former member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and treasurer of Maplewood Township for many years retiring from that position in 2009.Dorothy will be remembered as a good hostess. She was very good at taking time out of her schedule to help her family and friends and making sure their needs were well-taken care of. One quality she possessed was Dorothy never would judge anyone. Dorothy especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.Dorothy Backstrom, age 82, a resident of Erhard, Minnesota, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Pelican Valley Health Center in Pelican Rapids, MN. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Lennart, Pelican Rapids, MN; daughter, Vicki (Mark) Satter, Pelican Rapids, MN; five grandchildren: Kevin (Amanda) Backstrom with their children Ella, Marie Dorothy, Grace and Samuel; Dani (Chad) Morrison with their daughter Wren; Kelly (Mason) Thompson with their children Tyra, Elyse and Payge; Alyssa (Norton) Bergman with their children Emmalyn and Beckham; and Traci (Robbie Steiner) Satter; brother-in-law, Elroy Backstrom; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Nodsle, Carol Nodsle and Donna Salmonson; and nieces and nephews.Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Loren, brothers: Orville Nodsle, Duane Nodsle and LeRoy Nodsle; and sister, Harriet Backstrom.Visitation: Saturday March 8, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 Vp.m.at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN.
