Donald Steven Thompson

Donald Steven Thompson, age 58, died July 9, 2014 at Prairie Senior Cottages in Alexandria, MN. Donnie was born July 25, 1955 in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota to parents Marvin and Olive (Erickson) Thompson. Donnie was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church.He graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1973. Upon graduation, Donnie remained on the family farm to pursue a career in agriculture. In 1975, Donnie went to work full time for Johnson Turkey Farm. He worked there until 2010 when his Alzheimers forced him to retire early.In 2011, Donnie moved to a farm group home in Frazee, lived in Detroit Lakes and Glenwood homes before spending the last year in Alexandria at Prairie Senior Cottages. Donnie was an avid outdoors man. He loved motorcycles, snowmobiles, and ATVs. He was also a proficient arm wrestler winning the Detroit Lakes Water Carnival event.Donnie is survived by brothers David (Mary Ann) Thompson, Glenwood, MN, Fred Thompson, Pelican Rapids, Gary Thompson, Detroit Lakes, Mark Thompson, Ham Lake and sister Mari Thompson (Butch Rice), Frazee and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Olive and his oldest brother Marlin.Visitation: Friday, July 11, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to7:00 p.m. with a prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN.
