Carol Marilyn Moses, age 73, of Pelican Rapids, MN, died November 6, 2014 at Vibra Hospital in Fargo, ND.Carol Marilyn Herting was born August 21, 1941 in Pelican Rapids the daughter of Ernest and Tillie (Egstad) Herting. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, and was a lifelong member. Carol graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1959 and then attended Ritter's Fergus Falls School of Beauty. She worked as a beautician at O'Meara's Beauty Salon from 1960 to1963.On November 2, 1963 Carol was united in marriage to John Oliver Moses at Trinity Lutheran Church. They lived in Moorhead and Morris for a few years. They then moved back to Pelican Rapids making it their permanent home where she spent her life raising and caring for her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking especially at the holidays, gardening, canning, freezing a multitude of produce from the garden, crocheting, sewing, making seasonal crafts and stamping and creating greeting cards. She had an artist's eye for crafting various projects. Music was a significant part of Carol's life. As a young woman, she sang in the high school choir and at many local weddings. She was actively involved in Sweet Adeline's for over 25 years. She also sang in the "Pelican Piper" Quartet. They performed in Sweet Adeline shows, competitions and at local community events. She also participated in Christian and Clowning. As a member of Trinity Church she sang for many years in the choir, kept the library organized and was a part of the Hannah Church Circle Group. She was a member of the local Red Hat Society. Carol was also a partner, along with her sisters, in Prairie View Estate Bed & Breakfast.Family was an important part of Carol's life and most holidays were celebrated with extended family. Carol had a warm heart and was kind to everyone she knew. Carol and Oliver are back together watching over us from Heaven.Carol donated her corneas to the North Dakota Lion's Eye and Tissue Bank to provide someone the gift of sight.Carol is survived by her daughters: Lisa (Keith) Vortherms, St. Louis Park, MN and Lori (Kelly) O'Brien, Pelican Rapids, MN; grandchildren: Rachel and Mitchell Vortherms; sisters: Phyllis ( Lyle) Haugrud, Pelican Rapids, MN, Janet ( Dewey ) Malakowsky, Horace, ND; sisters-in-law: Norma Henrikson, Cyrus, MN and Irene Kohler, Brainerd, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her husband Oliver, and her parents Ernest and Tillie. Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society or Roger Maris Cancer Center.Visitation: Monday, November 10, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN.
