Florence "Flo" Arntson

Florence "Flo" Arntson, age 90, a resident of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, died on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Florence Lorraine Anderson was born December 8, 1925, in Scambler Township, Minnesota, the daughter of Edward and Rosa (Jeppesen) Anderson. She was the youngest of 10; the last surviving child of Edward and Rosa (Jeppesen) Anderson. She was a life-long member of Grove Lake Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed. She graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1944, and the following year, on January 29, 1945, married the love of her life, Elvin Arntson on his twenty-fifth birthday. They were married for 61 years, until his death in 2005. They had two children, Susan Arntson (Pelican Rapids) and Bruce Arntson (Nashville, TN), six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great granddaughters. After residing on the West Coast for several years, Florence and Elvin moved back to Minnesota in 1958, to build El's Resort on Pelican Lake, which the family ran for 16 years. In the winter months, she worked in Pelican Rapids at various businesses, including Rex's Grocery, Ace Hardware, and a 9-year stint at West Central Turkeys. In 1975, after selling the resort, Florence and Elvin moved into their dream home on Pelican Lake, where they entertained friends and family for the rest of their lives. Florence is survived by her children, Susan Arntson and Bruce Arntson (wife Lorna Morris), her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings, Raymond, Raider, Charlotte, Sidney, Carl, Evelyn, Agnes, Edward, Gladys, their spouses and several nieces and nephews. In the lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes or Grove Lake Lutheran Church. Visitation: Friday 5-8 PM, September 2, 2016, Larson Funeral Home, Pelican Rapids, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation resumes one hour prior to the service at the church.
