June 21, 1927 — August 13, 2017

June Zickur, age 90, of Pelican Rapids, MN, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Broen Home in Fergus Falls, MN with her granddaughter, Tessa, by her side. Alice June was born at home on June 21, 1927 in Vining, MN, to Allie and Anna (Nord) Johnson. She was baptized on June 25, 1927 by Pastor Wellman of Mission Covenant Church at home.  June was confirmed at Nidaros Lutheran Church by Clitherall, MN.  She attended country school by Vining and later graduated in 1945 from Leeds High School, Leeds, ND.  Following her graduation June was employed at Armour Meat Packing Plant in Fargo, ND.  She worked as a NA (Nursing Assistant) at Bethany Homes in Fargo.  She also worked at the State Hospital in Fergus Falls.  On June 24, 1951 June married Glenn Wilkinson in Douglas County, Minnesota. They moved to California where they adopted 4 children: Warren, Lisa, Erin and Tracy.  They also had a foster child, Sandy (French) Stofan.  June moved back to Minnesota with her children living near Evansville, Bloomington, and near Pelican Rapids.  On July 22, 1967 June was united in marriage with Kenneth Zickur at Central Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids.  When June lived near Pelican Rapids she worked at the Pelican Valley Health Center Hospital and Nursing Home as a nursing assistant.  For a couple of years she worked at West Central Turkey Plant and the Senior Citizens Center, both in Pelican Rapids.  June moved to the Broen Home in July of 2014. She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, canning, tapping Maple trees, growing flowers and raising her animals on the farm. She also liked to swim and paint rocks. June excelled at sewing and made many of Lisa’s dresses when Lisa was little. She taught her granddaughter, Tessa, how to crochet. She loved making big candy kisses for her grandkids.  June also made apple jack wine.  Everyone enjoyed her homemade baked buns and choke cherry jelly. She enjoyed the company of her grandkids.  Her greatest love was spending time with her family. June is survived by her daughter Lisa (Mike) Mickelson, Pelican Rapids; son Warren Wilkinson, Fargo; 6 grandchildren: Tanya Hoss, Tara Vigen, Natasha (Aaron) Isaman, Shaina, Tessa and Colton Mickelson; great-grandchildren: Julie, Madelyn, Chelsie, Taylor, Noah, Kylie, ShaeLyn, Abbie, Tristan, Easton, and Lyndsi; foster daughter Sandy (Joe) Stofan, North Ridgeville, OH; sisters: Donna Monk and Carolyn (Roger) Vacek; brothers: Dennis Johnson, Ralph (Bonnie) Johnson, Jerry (Carolyn) Johnson and Glen (Johnson) Smith; sisters-in-law: Dolly Johnson, Gloria Zickur, Virginia Johnson and Shirley Zickur; stepdaughter Charlotte (John) Paulson, Coon Rapids, MN; stepson Frank Zickur, Pelican Rapids; 6 step-grandchildren; as well as many step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by husband, Kenneth; son, Tracy Wilkinson; infant daughter, Erin; parents; brothers: Spencer, Arvid and Lynwood Johnson; sister, Mavis Martin; cousin, Maxine Holte; brothers-in-law: John Monk, Dale, Kermit and Charlie Zickur; mother-in-law Tessie Zickur; sisters-in-law: Harriet Zickur and Sally Zickur; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: Thursday, August 17, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at Calvary Evangelical Free Church, Pelican Rapids, MN.  Service: 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 18, 2017, at Christina Lake Cemetery, Melby, Minnesota.
